  • Friends of the Presumpscot 89 Conant Street Westbrook, ME, 04092 United States (map)

Come help landscape the Chief Polin Memorial Site, just off of Portland Trails, Westbook, and give thanks to the earth, river and sky. We are planting native Maine species, (generously donated by Pierson Nurseries in Biddeford).Come ready to work in the soil and bring a fork and shovel if you can. Please RSVP to Michael Shaughnessy at smallbirdsflying@gmail.com -so we know how many people are lending their loving hands.

In the 1750s Abenaki leader Chief Polin began a struggle to restore fish passage to the Presumpscot. In 1992, more than 250 years later, Friend's picked up Polin's mantel and began fighting for fish passage, improved water quality and restoration of the natural character of the Presumpscot after two and a half centuries of industrialization.
