Friends of the Presumpscot Paddle from Mallison Falls to Westbrook

  • Westbrook Ice Arena Lincoln Street Westbrook, ME, 04092 United States (map)

Join Friends of the Presumpscot River and Portland Paddle for a river float, paddling from Mallison Falls to the Lincoln Street  boat launch in Westbrook. During the float,  we will highlight features along the river.

This reach of the Presumpscot is considered Class B by the State of Maine; it is suitable for fishing and swimming. Shorelands are heavily wooded and there are no bridges across the river the entire length of the paddle. About a mile downstream from the put in, the Little River enters river right. This river and its headwater streams offer excellent fishing and are considered a high priority for conservation by the Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition. Exploring the Little River is a good side trip for those with more time. Owls and signs of wildlife are common along both the Presumpscot and Little Rivers. The Little River, like the Village of Little Falls, was named not for its size but for Moses Little.
Meet at the Lincoln Street Boat Launch (near ice rink) in Westbrook on Sunday @ 1:00PM. Boats will be transported to Mallison, and it will be a two hour float to Saccarappa Falls.  Limited amount of kayaks & SUPs are available onsite, or you can bring your own boat or board. Paddlers are responsible for bringing water, sunscreen or any other necessary personal items for the float. PFDs will be required, as well as signing a release form regardless of whether you bring your own boat.  (Do let us know if you plan to being your own boat or use one of ours) A suggested donation of $20 for the float will include an annual membership with Friends of the Presumpscot River.
