The Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition (PRWC) came together to implement the Presumpscot River Management Plan.  This management plan, initiated by the Casco Bay Estuary Project and developed by a group of watershed stakeholders, deals with three important issues on the Presumpscot.  These are fisheries, open space and cumulative impacts.

The mission of the PRWC is:
To restore and protect the Presumpscot River watershed to realize the greatest good for the human and ecological communities that share the river's resources. The PRWC is a partnership of individuals, organizations and agencies working cooperatively to:

1) Implement the Presumpscot River Management Plan, "A Plan for the Future of the Presumpscot River",

2) Apply natural resource programs, technology, and funding to facilitate sustainable watershed management.

The focus area for PRWC’s work shall be in the Presumpscot River watershed below Sebago Lake, Maine (Windham, Buxton, Cumberland, Falmouth, Gorham, Gray, North Yarmouth, Portland, Raymond, Standish, Westbrook, Yarmouth).

B. In furtherance, but not in limitation, of the foregoing mission, PRWC shall:

1. Promote the formation and strengthening of partnerships that are key to the successful protection of the river and long-term implementation of protection efforts. Encourage networks to develop to protect the river.

2. Increase local, regional, state and national interest in understanding and protecting Presumpscot River and implementing the plan.

3. Encourage research and analysis on river related issues particularly cumulative impacts, open space and fisheries.

4. Promote stewardship of the river by all.
